Indigo Adults Book Review: Being You, Changing The World

I know a book is good when I have an “A-Ha!” moment every few pages. There were so many “A-Ha!” moments in Being You, Changing the World that I have been struggling to write the review in a succinct way. There is just too much awesomeness in Dr. Heer’s book to cover everything I want to in my humble review., but I will do my best.

One of my favorite things about the book, is that each time I listen to it, I have new and different “A-Ha!” moments. You can keep listening to the book or reading the book over and over again and it will continue to increase awareness in the reader/listener. I have listened to the book on Audible about 5 times now and I am still feeling myself open more and more from the experience.

Off the top of my head, these are some of the specific tools and teachings in the book that I am sitting with right now that I keep pondering in moments when I am in meditation.

Remembering who I am and using that as a focus when I draw what I want to me (rather than push what I want into the world)
The way Dr. Heer is marketing Being You, Changing the World is brilliant.

He sends a teaser chapter or two to pull the audience in.

Chapter one can be attained through joining Dain Heer’s mailing list, and it is what convinced me to buy the whole book. Some of his most powerful tools are in chapter one.

After listening to the first chapter of Heer’s book, I learned a new way of manifestation and a new way to look think about the art of manifestation. The way the tool is presented in the book has really changed my perspective of Law of Attraction (LOA) and the way I leverage that law. Coupling that teaching with another one from chapter one that helps the reader with “remembering who I am”, adds power and clarity to the manifestation tools in the same chapter.

If you do nothing else, at least grab the first chapter for free.

Ask the chair
One of my ex-boyfriends is an engineer and when we were dating he told me about an experiment where the scientists were running random series of zeros and ones from a computer on a constant basis. The scientists discovered accidentally that when they were paying attention to the data, the results changed. Their consciousness created that change. In the same way, Dr. Heer’s book asserts that we can change seemingly random things in our universe though our consciousness and awareness. What I loved about how the book presented this tidbit of information is through a tool that showed how to use this awareness in a practical way. In the same way I have written about praying over food or the ocean to change the molecular make-up of the food, water or whatever to something cleaner and more beneficial, Heer writes about even more ways to communicate on the cellular level and create positive change.

Hundredth Monkey Effect
This theory states that “a new behavior or idea is claimed to spread rapidly by unexplained, even supernatural, means from one group to all related groups once a critical number of members of one group exhibit the new behavior or acknowledge the new idea.” (WIkipedia)

Given that Access Consciousness is based on the premise that everyone is empathic and that approximately 90% of our thoughts and feelings are not ours, it makes sense that 100 monkeys changing their eating habits on one island would automatically spread to other islands regardless of whether there was direct contact between the monkeys of these separate islands. This is one of the main reasons I chose this book. It is why I feel indigo adults, indigo children, crystal children and rainbow children are here.

We feel the thoughts and feelings consciously.  We feel the energy shifting consciously.

Perhaps “cow people” really are as open as “horse people” (see below), but they are currently tapping into ideas and feelings that do not help them or the planet. This 100th Monkey Effect is how the intuitives of the world can shift the world in the direction of well-being, without requiring everyone’s conscious participation and this shift can be gently brought to physical reality by just the “horse people” BEING who they are and radiating that.

We will get more into this topic when we get to Eufeeling (the book that is planned for March), but Being You, Changing the World presented it in a clear way and is an excellent way to be introduced to the theory.

Awareness of other people’s physical pain/the earth’s pain, and how to clear it
Nope. I’m not crazy. And neither are you. That weird ache that you feel? That is your brother’s, sister’s, husband’s, best friend’s ache that you are randomly feeling through your body’s awareness. I discovered this awareness in myself over a decade ago when my dad went in for an operation and I felt the doctors opening him up in my own body, but it is nice to know that (1) I’m not just making this up and (2) it happens to other people. YAY. The entire chapter on the body is excellent.

Gratitude vs. Love in relationships

Great distinction.

Receiving
I actually wish there had been more about how to open to being more willing to receive beside the clearing statement and the assertion that “All of life comes to me with ease and joy and glory.” Perhaps these tools are working at a level I have yet to be aware of. The upside is that chapter on receiving has made me conscious of when I say no to things or people, or skip parties and events, and that this might be my resistance to receiving gifts from the universe.

It gets a little bit unclear, though, because while I am open to receiving, am I open to receiving something that every time I have experienced it, it has been crappy?  There is a blurry line between being closed off to life and having the wisdom to say no to things that are not in our best interest.  Finding which side of the line a decision falls is challenging to me and while there is a tool that is offered in the book for that line, I am still finding this area to be challenging and wish the book had made this distinction more clear.

Cow People vs Horse People
I mentioned “Cow People” and “Horse People” earlier in this post. The difference between “cow people” and “horse people” is explained in the book. For years I have been making this distinction through J.K. Rowling’s term “Muggle” on my Indigo Adult Definitions page. Same thing, different terms. Access Consciousness also describes this distinction as Human (Cow/Muggle) and Humanoid (Horse/Wizard-Magical/INDIGO).

Overall, Being You Changing the World is a good foundation for further reading with the 2014 Indigo Adults Book Club. There were some theories and techniques that required some clarity for me, and by virtue of synchonisity, I have discovered additional books to help add depth to the many learnings I garnered from Being You, Changing the World. (see below)

As a final note, here is a link to several of my prior posts about Access Consciousness. You may want to read some of those for further learnings that can be found in this book.

FEBRUARY’S SELECTION FOR THE 2014 INDIGO ADULT BOOK CLUB IS SLOW SEX BY NICOLE DAEDONE!

One of the last chapters of Being You, Changing the World highlights the concept of “living orgasmically”. Dr. Heer defines “living orgasmically” in a way that is about the ecstasy of having a moment-to-moment awareness rather than anything having to do with copulation.

Within days of reading this chapter, I discovered the book Slow Sex, in which Nicole Daedone’s opening chapter describes the orgasmic experience of eating a tomato. Her definition of orgasmic living is completely in line with Dr. Heer’s, and it is for that reason that Slow Sex is the FEBRUARY Indigo Adult Book Club selection.

Slow Sex: The Art and Craft of the Female Orgasm (Paperback) – Common is also a great book to read to celebrate Valentine’s Day, which is also why it is February’s book.
