Greens 8000

I’m going to take my time writing about the products I liked and learned about at Expo West this year because I always leave with a bunch of samples and I want to go through them slowly so that I know what is actually having a positive effect on me. While I compile my own healthy food list, I will share my discoveries here at The Indigo Adults blog.

The first product that I have been using pretty consistently with a positive experience is Greens 8000.

I’m not going to write all of the specs on it and I presume that you know what a green drink is… usually one that has a bunch of fruits & veggies in it that helps you to achieve the nutrients you need from those foods if you’re not getting enough of them in your diet.

Normally I don’t feel much with green drinks and have not been very impressed with them.

But I met Coco March, the owner and developer of Greens 8000 and we had a long discussion about her product.

After the discussion, she gave me a lot of samples and insisted I would feel the difference in my life.

Well, she was right. And she was right almost immediately!

They were handing out samples at The Expo, which is a draining and chaotic atmosphere that usually has me running ragged by the third day. I drank several samples at the booth and felt much better in a very short time.

I can’t say that this is an indigo adult product, as much as one for the general public, but I think that empaths and other psychic minds sometimes get run down by the atmosphere they are surrounded by, and this product is a good way to add a bit of shielding to your field (that’s not official, but that’s how I’m perceiving my body’s reaction to the drink supplement).

As a side note, I actually really like the “Reds” drink better than the “Greens”. My body reacts to it in a positive and immediate way.

You can read more about it by going to their website: http://www.greens8000.com/

By the way, I don’t earn anything if you buy it. Just letting you know about one of the cool things I found at Expo West this year…

BTW, the “8000″ comes from the ORAC levels in one 8 oz. serving. ORAC was a buzz-word this year at the Expo, and it refers to the anti-oxidant levels in supplements. That’s a simplified explanation and you will find more info about it on the Greens 8000 website.

More to come!

~ Peace ~

Natural Foods Expo West 2010

I just got back from Anaheim because I was attending the Natural Products Expo West (aka “Expo West” in the industry) and I had a bit if a revelation while I was there.

The expo is a lot of fun and I have been going for the past 5 years.

I always meet great people (lots of indigo adults) and try great products that are there in the hopes of getting orders from big chain health food stores like Whole Foods.

So I always end up sampling tons of great (and not so great) foods that all claim to be extremely healthy.

But this year, for the last few months before the Expo, I was eating extremely clean and healthy and simply. No packaged stuff. No whites (flour, sugar, etc). No MSG or things labeled as healthy sounding ingredients that actually are MSG (I’ll probably be writing an article on this topic very soon.)

So when I arrived at Expo West this year, I was a blank slate, and as an indigo adult, it felt very good to eat this way.

Perhaps I will outline what I was doing in another post, as well.

After eating 2 days worth of the new “health” foods that were on the market, I felt terrible. I was bloated, sort of grouchy, tired, my gums were bleeding, I had migraines, I gained about 5 pounds and I looked like I had aged about 15 years. SERIOUSLY.

I guess I could blame the hectic schedule of the convention, but I already have a hectic schedule in my normal day-to-day life… usually 14 hour days… and I’m fine.

So it was definitely the food. The “HEALTH” food.

Which got me to thinking…

Most of what is now in the health stores is not really healthy.

I mean, it’s healthier than what is in the regular supermarkets. But if it’s got packaging, it’s probably got some sort of preservatives and processing, even if it’s done as clean and as ethical as possible by the company.

Just something to keep in mind, because as indigo adults, we tend to be more sensitive to the additives in foods, both physically and mentally, and that is why it is important to eat as cleanly as possible.

That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy splurging once in a while and am willing to take on the ramifications.

But even if I do fast food (which is maybe once or twice a year) I make sure it is the most acceptable form of fast food, like In and Out Burger, which allows me to literally watch them cut the potatoes in front of me (which I don’t order, anyway) and I make sure I order it “protein style”… without the wheat filled bun.

I might feel a bit icky the next day, but a lot better than, say, Burger King. I had a few bites of a friend’s burger last fall and within 20 minutes felt like I was going to fall over and puke for days. Never again. I’d rather be hungry.

Anyhoo, the intention of posting this is just to remind all of you indigo adults and empaths out there that though food claims to be healthy, a lot of the time that’s a way of marketing to the segment of the population that wants a healthy body, which I believe is a majority of the people.

So it’s a super-smart way to market, but it’s not necessarily fully honest all the time.

In future posts I will write about the products I found at this year’s Expo that I DID like, and did find to be healthful to me, and maybe that will feel good to you, too.

I say “maybe” because ultimately every body is unique and requires different nutrients and needs. My preferences are suggestions… A healthy food list that I have compiled for myself that you might like, since we are indigo adults and most likely share strengths and sensitivities.

~ Peace ~

Actually, I credit that to why I felt so awesome this morning.

This is Part 4 of a 6 part series on Indigo Adults and substances.

Today we well be covering alcohol…

First of all, I want to start by saying that all that I am about to say it though personal experience. There are lots of scientific experiments that cover the physical effects of nicotine, but I think you’d be hard pressed to find articles that cover the energetic effects.

Do indigo adults drink alcohol?

Well… this one does…

This past weekend was Homecoming at my school, so I got a recent and very direct reminder of the effect of alcohol on the indigo mind, body and energetic field.

As opposed to smoking, which I covered in the last post, alcohol actually opens the heart chakra.

That is why when people drink they say things like “I love you, Man” or are more likely to get into fights.

That is also, by the way, why smokers are more likely to be drinkers… because it does the inverse of smoking by opening the heart chakra, giving them a false sense of… well… openheartedness.

Alcohol puts lots of holes in the energy field. Even one drink can allow more “stuff” into your field from your surroundings than would normally be able to get in.

And, unfortunately, for the epath/indigo adult, being around drinkers will affect you more because you are empathically picking up on their energy field (which has more holes because of the drinking) and so not only could you feel inebriated from their presence, but you also may feel that you are picking up more crap from the surroundings just by virtue of being around them.

There is, however, a useful way to use alcohol, that I discovered a few years ago.

While I don’t encourage a regular habit of getting wasted, extreme inebriation will pull crap off of you and leave you cleaner – energetically – if you drink alone and in an energetically clear location.

I know that sounds like a one-way ticket to alcoholism, but a few years ago I was around a lot of people that expected me to carry energy for them. Despite my extreme diligence about clearing my energy field and bubbling whenever I got around them, sometimes they just wouldn’t un-hook.

Oddly enough, and I’m not really sure why, they would stop sticking to me after a night of heavy drinking alone in my apartment.

As a side note, I’m not addicted to drinking and, frankly, since turning 21 have sort of not been interested since the underage thrill was gone, so I have not partaken in the habit much. And I can get that same feeling by just being in the same room with a drunk person, and then still clear my field when it’s time to drive home, so why bother actually taking in the substance?

But in the instance mentioned above, regarding clearing energy of others hooked into me, it helped profusely.

My theory is that they hooked into me because my energy field felt so yummy. As I’ve mentioned in other posts, my energy field sort of lifted them up energetically…

But me being drunk did not feel like something the vampires in my life at that time wanted to hook into, and so, they would unhook. And I would awaken the next day from my evening of inebriation feeling wonderful… not hungover or sick as most people typically do.

Why?

Because I wasn’t carrying their junk anymore.

So getting back to Homecoming…

I have found in myself that there are two modes in which I drink.

One is imbibing alcohol for joy. The other is imbibing alcohol to numb out, like with smoking.

Homecoming was obviously imbibing for joy… and yet I still enjoyed the benefits of waking up the next day feeling much clearer energetically than I had in a long time.

Perhaps this is the crap of the people around me that cleared… I’m guessing it is.

Imbibing to numb out… I judge it as not quite as constructive…

It’s like what I said with smoking… A form of self-medication that I consider to be ok for me, as long as it’s short term.

Because ultimately, what is being numbed out is pain and pain is there to tell you something. It’s there to tell you to change something.

But as a temporary short term fix, alcohol might be a doable solution.

I’ve had mentors tell me that alcohol slows down moving through one’s karma and keeps individuals in unfavorable situations longer.

I could see that. Again, it’s a Band Aid, not a solution.

I have also heard that alcohol, along with cigarettes, grounds the energy field… but I don’t agree with that. Cigarettes might, but alcohol doesn’t do that for me.

It actually makes it more likely for me to jump out of my body… (through one of those holes in my energy field, perhaps?)

And while it chemically opens the heart chakra (and often the throat chakra – self expression), it closes the third eye and crown.

This is maybe why alcohol is considered grounding, but I don’t see that because I think people also lose touch with their 1st chakra, and, quite literally, can lose connection with the ground (and then land on their butt seconds later.)

And the unfortunate thing about all the holes in the field is that because the third eye and crown are temporary closed due to the alcohol, the individual… even one such as myself who is typically very aware when something gets into my field, is not able to detect the crap that is getting in until the next day when sobriety hits.

BOTTOM LINE:
So I would say that if you do use alcohol as an indigo adult, that you either drink in energetically safe surroundings (like at home alone, or with people that have good clean energy) or if you do go out and drink, as I did this Homecoming, to be sure to clear your energy and bubble before you sleep/pass out.

I know this might be challenging, given that you’re… well… drunk… but it will help you feel better in the morning.

Actually, I credit that to why I felt so awesome this morning. Not only did I receive the clearing/unhooking effects of the alcohol from those that tend to hook in on a regular basis, but I also cleared all the crap that might have stuck to me walking around all day in the public in the inebriated state.

Oh, and don’t forget the normal, physical body maintenance… like drinking tons of water…

Hope this helps… Would love to get feedback from other indigo adults and empaths. What have your experiences been?

Today we well be covering nicotine & smoking…

First of all, I want to start by saying that all that I am about to say it though personal experience. There are lots of scientific experiments that cover the physical effects of nicotine, but I think you’d be hard pressed to find articles that cover the energetic effects.

I would also like to start by making a distinction between nicotine and smoking.

Nicotine, like caffeine, has been found to have positive effects to those who use the substance in moderation. Some benefits that are being studied include helping ADHD, Schizophrenia and Parkinson’s Disease.

The harm comes in the way that nicotine is typically taken into the body. Smoking is what makes the substance adverse and I will be focusing on that aspect, rather than simply the nicotine.

I have found in myself and others, that people reach for smoking when they want to close off the heart chakra or already are closed down in the heart chakra.

It is no coincidence that I started smoking again in Las Vegas after quitting for 12 years.

It is also no coincidence that literally, the moment I left Las Vegas for Flagstaff, I quit very easily and haven’t partaken in the habit since then, aside for a couple of weeks (1) when I was connecting with the collective where I live (with 2 smokers… they didn’t tell me when I moved in, but it makes sense because I was still addicted to the nicotine and clearing the Vegas energy off of me, I just wasn’t partaking physically in it) and (2) when a few people came to visit from Las Vegas (who are quite open-hearted, but still part of the Vegas collective which is very heart-closed.)

I have used smoking as a way to feel more comfortable in the heart-closed environments. And I do feel that in that case it was much better to do that than to sit it out and experience some very energetically and emotionally painful environments and situations.

But if one is to use smoking in this way, it must be viewed as a temporary form of self-medication, which can be challenging because they say that nicotine is quite addictive and the smoke very harmful to the lungs and body.

The other energetic reason to only use the smoking temporarily is because the toxins from the smoking lower the vibrational energy of the field so much that it makes it more challenging create positive manifestations.

The positive manifestations still happen; they just come at a slower pace.

This is because those with a positive energy field are more likely to be healthy and less likely to come into the realm of a person that is unhealthy. The vibrations just don’t match.

So, it makes sense that coming from Vegas, I would accidentally move in with smokers because I was still vibrating at a lower energetic level from being part of the collective of Las Vegas.

My roommates. living in a cleaner energetic city like Flagstaff but holding lower energy than the general (why, I don’t know), healthy collective of Flagstaff by virtue of their smoking habit, matched well with me just coming out of Vegas.

But now that I have been here a few months and have been a non-smoker for a majority of those months, my vibration has lifted and the collective in the apartment is not comfortable to me.

I am not concerned too much with the discomfort, though, because when my field has thoroughly cleaned itself enough, I will just be joyfully thrust out of the living situation to be in a surrounding that is more healthful.

So my point is that the smoking served me in Las Vegas because it blocked me from feeling the collective of that city, which has a lot of pain and is pretty dark.

Rather than feeling distraught from the city, I chose to self medicate with smoking.

It might have perpetuated my living there for a longer amount of time, but overall I can say that I was pretty happy there (even though I was a bit numb emotionally – translating to a closed heart chakra), except for the moments when I was tapping the collective.

And now that I’m in more healthful, energetically clearer city, I can easily live without it.

And here’s also how I have become acutely aware that smoking lowers the vibrational energy…

One of my housemates goes out of town quite often. When he leaves, not only are do my manifestations come faster, but but they are even better than I expect, and I am also in a better mood and it is much easier to do my Appreciation Exercise and feel the appreciation radiating from me.

The day he returns (or actually about a day before, as his energy arrives before he does) is always a bad day for me. I find it much more difficult to connect with joy and appreciation and my manifestations are clumsy and bumpy.

(BTW, sometimes I don’t know he’s when he’s getting back, but I can tell just by the shift I mentioned in the last paragraph. It’s fascinating how accurate it is.)

And then once he’s back a few days, I raise him up close to where I am (it happens automatically) and then we all feel better that we have similar vibrations (except it’s still hard for me to connect with joy and appreciation and to manifest fast positive manifestations, so I can still feel myself carrying his heavier energy.)

To be more specific about the energetic effects of smoking, I observed my own empathic reaction to his presence.

It’s harder to feel the Appreciation (from the appreciation exercise mentioned earlier) with my typical huge capacity for appreciation when he’s around because, unfortunately, his energy is affecting mine. His closed heart chakra is affecting my energy field (it doesn’t help that his bed is within 10 feet of mine… separate rooms, but I know my energy field is at least 10 feet in all directions, so I often can feel him in his room. UG!)

I might piss a lot of smokers off by saying this, but smoking, especially long-term smoking (as I’m sure my housemate has been doing… he’s quite old) lowers a person’s capacity for joy.

This is the biggest reason to only use smoking temporary… because one’s ability to manifest wonderful and joyful things is in direct connection with one’s ability to feel joy. And the longer and more thoroughly one smokes, the less capacity one has for joy.

And long-term smokers cannot even feel that they are not feeling joy. They are so disconnected from this chakra that on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the ecstatic state – the shamanic joyfulness – I reach this often when I’m on my own) they feel about a 6 and think it’s really good (which for them it is… for them.)

That pretty much sums up my housemate as an example of smoking and how it affects one’s energy field.

As a side note, the actual addictive quality of nicotine can be a challenge to give up, even if the energetic, heart-shielding reasons are no longer present.

I used electric cigarettes to taper off the nicotine addiction. I do not find them to be very effective at shielding my heart chakra (which is good) but it helped with the actual substance addiction.

I now use them on and off. It’s pleasurable and I do not feel that they are particularly harmful (but don’t quote me on that).

They are certainly less harmful than smoking because they lack the tar and other chemicals like arsenic that are in cigarettes.

And I feel that the energetic effects of electric cigarettes (again, self-observed) are minimal to none for me.

I would love kind feedback about this post from other indigo adults and empaths. What have your experiences been when you’ve gotten around smokers?

This is Part 2 of a 6 part series on Indigo Adults and substances.

Today we well be covering caffeine…

First of all, I want to start by saying that all that I am about to say it though personal experience. There are lots of scientific experiments that cover the physical effects of caffeine, but I think you’d be hard pressed to find articles that cover the energetic effects (and I’m not talking about the “energetic” in terms of caffeine’s ability to wake you up in the morning.)

Caffeine elevates my emotions (which I think can be backed up scientifically) but also opens me up more psychically.

Unlike other substances, like alcohol, which also opens you up but you don’t feel the opening until you sober up, caffeine opens me up immediately and makes shielding more difficult, despite my best efforts.

If I’m in toxic collective, my urge to drink coffee is much more pronounced. I have much less desire for coffee in Flagstaff than I do in Las Vegas, and in Sedona I almost never drink coffee.

My coffee consumption in Flagstaff depends a lot on how much time I am spending at home (around my smoker housemates). If I’m not home much, I don’t have much urge to drink coffee.

So, for indigo adults, coffee can be useful to balance their own body out in a collective that is more toxic. It will help you match the collective vibration better, which should be more comfortable for you, as long as the thoughts of the collective aren’t too dark.

It’s also a more gentle way to achieve this balance than alcohol or smoking.

Caffeine also can make grounding and staying in one’s body more challenging, though this has never stopped me from indulging. I just need to focus more on grounding if I am heavily caffeinated.

Most of the indigos and empaths I know can safely and comfortably use caffeine.

Finally, coffee and espresso drinks have a more dramatic impact (especially Starbucks), so tea and dark chocolate are good choices if you have trouble grounding but still want to use caffeine to wake up.

While I find that eating raw food in Las Vegas makes me feel like I’m about to lift out of my body (ah… the psychic mind of an indigo adult), I still thoroughly enjoy the taste, so even when I was in Vegas this weekend, I enjoyed the raw breakfast I shared with my friends.

Here are two Raw Food Restaurants in Vegas that I really like.

1. Go Raw Cafe

We at at the location in an area called “The Lakes” which actually has a manmade lake in the center of the community.

Is anything real in Vegas? Eh, no matter…

My friend lives there and it was realy nice to stay with her and be near water while in the desert.

The raw food restaurant was lovely and a favorite of several of my indigo adult friends in Las Vegas. I had never heard about this and I was so glad they shared it with me! I enjoyed the superfood smoothie with granola… a bit expensive (like most raw food) but filling and delicious.

My friends also said the “Gimme the Beet “Cheese” Burger w/ Fries” and “Portabella Mushroom Wrap” were also quite good. They also have a section of the restaurant devoted to raw foodie groceries (snacks, books, personal health products) that you purchase to take home (well, at the location I went to they did… not sure about 2nd Vegas location).

2. Rainbow’s End Las Vegas

I discovered this place years before I lived in Vegas because I drove by it while I was staying on the Strip as a tourist. It’s mostly a health food store but they also have a cafe that serves veggie and raw Monday Thru Friday – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and Saturday – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While I lived in Vegas I would get there too late to order, so I would usually go to the cooler in the back of the store and find one of their breakfast smoothies which is my absolute favorite in terms of taste and I feel great for hours afterward. Better prices than at Go Raw, too.

Any indigo adults out there have recommendations for other raw food restaurants in Las Vegas? How about other cities? Your words will be especially helpful to me and other indigo adults if you give recommendations in cities where it’s hard to find raw food (like Vegas).

I have just noticed that since I started this blog about
indigo adults, I have been manifesting lots of indigo around me. That’s good, though, because one of the major ongoing sections I intended to have on this blog was a Healthy Food Guide and a Healthy Food List for indigo adults.

I am not a nutritionist and I am very aware that what is appropriate for one indigo is not appropriate for another. Also, much of these recommendations are based on what works for me, living in a pretty energetically-grounded environment (except when i’m in Sedona) in the high desert of Arizona.

I wanted to add this because I know that when i was younger I got my body into a lot of trouble by eating the wrong foods. At the time, there was a lack of awareness of the effects of food on emotion, energy, etc, and how toxins really, really can shut down the body. This is even truer for the sensitive physical system of an indigo adult or indigo child.z

The first thing I want to mention isn’t a food. This product synchronistically has the world indigo in the name, and they make my favorite scent… a perfume spray from a company called Indigo Wild.

I met the folks from Indigo Wild a few months ago at Expo
West, a natural foods and product convention that occurs every year in March in
Anaheim, CA.

Not only were the reps from Indigo Wild super-cool, but I discovered that they
make my favorite soap (Zum Bar in frankincense and myrrh) and they also have a
perfume mist (Zum Mist) and laundry detergent (Zum Clean) to go with it.

Yummy scents and no noxious ingredients so I can use them
without having a chemical reaction.
They actually feel really good to use. You can find Indigo Wild’s products at health stores like
Whole Foods or go to their website for a catalog.

Additionally, I have been going through a smoothie phase (it
happens once in a while) and I while the purple hue of my smoothie is caused by the marion
blackberries I was adding, rather than the mix, I wanted to mention two smoothie mixes
that I have really been enjoying.

I have heard that indigo children, indigo adults, and
crystal children and adults do well on raw food.

I never have been able to be a raw foodie as I get very,
very tired without animal protein in my diet. But here are two raw, vegan smoothie mixes to add to your
indigo drink:

The Ultimate Meal

I like this one because I feel like it gives me nutrients
that my multivitamin doesn’t give and the nutrients are more accessible because
they are in food form. I have
heard that the creator of The Ultimate Meal, Sam Gerard, is a bit of a fanatic
when it comes to his health and his products, in terms of healthfulness and
benefit, but I think that’s a good thing right.

I drink this one when I am thinking more about getting
nutrients into my body than protein, though there is protein in the mix.

Sun Warrior Vegan Rice Protein

I started to drink this when I was on maintenance after
finishing phase 2 of a diet involving HCG. I wanted to get more protein in, but I didn’t want it to be
overly processed and by body really reacts poorly to soy and a lot of the
mainstream proteins on the market.

I found a website where others talked about the benefits of
Sun Warrior protein after main phase of the HCG diet, so I decided to check it
out.

This is my favorite in terms of flavor. And I chose this one over Ultimate Meal
when I feel I have a need for extra protein. It also mixes better with other foods and does not call for
a strict protocol like Ultimate Meal.
Sun Warrior protein also has a variety of flavors.

If you try any of these items out, please let me know
how you like them. I am always on
the look out for healthy eating guides that are compatible with my indigo adult
system, and if I find anything that really rocks my world, I will pass the
information on to you.

And don’t forget to add the indigo… Indigo marionberries,
that is!
